Who We Are
The Learning Garden is a small in-home license exempt preschool and childcare. We are only accepting five children into our program at this time but are looking to expand into more classrooms and teachers when the space allows. We are open from 7am to 6pm Monday through Friday and are closed most holidays. We accept children 18mo-5 years and provide breakfast, lunch and two healthy snacks, mostly organic and local when available. We are a play-based, nature driven and Reggio inspired childcare and preschool. We believe in providing children a safe and creative environment that can foster their need to play and use their imaginations. Our days consist of music, imaginative play, reading, arts and crafts, gardening, yoga/movement and various learning activities woven into play.

For over a decade I have been working with children in various childcare settings. These positions include nanny, assistant teacher, toddler teacher, after-school childcare coordinator, behavioral therapist and nursery coordinator. I graduated from Portland State University in 2017 where my studies included science and education. I believe that working with children is one of the most important career paths that one can take and I am honored to be on it. I have always dreamed of starting my own school and I have seen the need for more quality early education programs, especially when trying to find care for my own children. I believe children are naturally inquisitive and willing to learn and explore if given the chance. Teaching compassion is one of the things I believe is most important and is something I strive to include in my lessons. I learn something new everyday when working with children and believe in creating a community where we can learn and grow together.
